A Mission

A Mission of Love and Faith

Mozambique suffered 500 years of colonial exploitation governed by hard Portuguese rules. The consequences are still influencing daily life in form of profound social, cultural and economical problems, battering the countries struggle for survival.

With a population of 17.5 million, Mozambique is facing a quite uncertain future. A tremendous AIDS crisis is destroying the country and combined with many other typical African diseases they are provoking premature deaths by the thousands.

The official language is Portuguese and the population speaks numerous local languages and dialects. The literacy rate approximates the 52% mark. Higher education is the privilege of a few. Mozambique’s economy is extremely weak, with an external debt 20 times as high as it’s reserve in US Dollars, Mozambique is the poorest country in the world. An insufficient supply of food, water, clothing, drugs, medical supplies and housing is a constant concern of the government and the population in general. Most of the homes are in extremely poor, unhealthy and unhygienic conditions.

A chronic condition of mal nutrition claims the life of thousands and produces many diseases and great suffering. Millions of children, elderly, women and men do not have anything to eat and await starvation in resignation.

Life expectancy is only 31 years. For every 1,000 births there are 218 still births and one out of every five children dies before the age of five.

With an average of 4.6 births per women the population grows is only 0.82% and may already have declined to a negative rate. Without help the population is doomed to extinction.

The lack of physicians, health professionals, medical equipment combined with ignorance in the basics of hygiene and health is claiming the premature death of thousands. This number will soon reach into the millions.

An estimated 84% of the population is dedicated to farming, forestry and fishing however in most cases they do not produce sufficient food for year round supply. Industrial production is almost nonexistent.

Famine and diseases are literally extinguishing the population. This devastating condition can only be reversed if Mozambique receives urgently needed additional external support in the form of technical assistance and material, food, medical help and programs in disease prevention. Technical assistance and financial aid to improve overall living conditions are also needed.

No other alternative is available. We must help today, because tomorrow will be to late.

Lifeline to Africa created a Christian Medical Technician Project for the African continent to fulfill the biblical call: “And into whatsoever city ye enter, … heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you” (Luke 10:8,9).

Lifeline to Africa is committed to train 3,300 local men and women as Christian Medical Technicians, to work in their country Mozambique. They will implement programs in Hygiene, Disease Prevention, Disease Treatment with Natural Remedies and Nutrition.

After meeting a person’s basic needs, the best assistance is teaching them how to help themselves. Education, training and instruction are the best tools to express Christ’s love.

The project is designed to prevent the premature death of millions of people through obedience to God’s moral and natural laws.

We need to help. Your prayers and economical support will permit that millions of people have a higher expectancy of life and at the same time get to know about their Divine Savior and eternal life.

Words are not enough to express the urgency and the gravity at the problem that is afflicting the nation of Mozambique. Help us to make this project of love and faith a reality. You can sponsor a Christian Medical Technician or a nursery for medical herbs and training for vegetable and fruit production or a foster family for orphans.  Your blessings will be eternal.

Sponsor ships for Christian Medical Technicians, Training Nurseries, and Foster Families for orphans are needed. This is an opportunity for mission minded churches, families or individuals to become involved in a mission to help the poorest in the world.
